MH #5 Metal Zipper Head Slider is the sliding head for a #5-gauge zipper, cast in metal and used to open and close nylon, metal, and plastic zipper chains.
The slider clamps onto the #5 chain and guides the two rows of teeth together as it travels, which makes it the wear part that gets replaced when a zipper stops closing.
