Green Footprint - Hike in Spring, Act for Environment

At 9 o'clock, all participants timely took a bus to Tuoshan Weir in Yinjiang Town, Haishu District. The weir is the first gravity-type river-blocking dam in the history of Chinese hydraulic engineering, constructed from blocks of stone. 

 

As soon as we got off the car, the city's hustle and bustle turned into the chirping of birds, and a breeze carrying the scent of flowers blew towards us, instantly dissipating any feelings of early morning fatigue. The weather was very nice, with a gentle breeze, making it easy to walk. We were walking in small groups on the cobblestone paths, with little woods on both sides. Looking up, the sun shines through the branches of trees that haven't yet sprouted leaves, casting light on us.

As we ventured into the mountains under  the bright sunshine and clear skies, volunteers, wearing green vests, paired up and divided tasks clearly - one holding a trash picker and the other a trash bag.

We carefully searched every corner along the way, leaving no litter behind, even garbage hidden in bushes or grass was "bagged" by the volunteers. We collected more than ten bags of various kinds of trash. Wherever they passed, they left behind only the beauty of green mountains, clear waters, and blossoming trees.

 

Following the hike, we indulged in hearty Farmhouse meals and savored Qingtuan, a traditional green mochi, in celebration of the Qingming festival.
